I read a quote from Stephen King once. In it he said that a good novelist doesn’t make their characters do what they want them to, but rather they follow the characters and write down what they see them do. He says that a good novelist isn’t a god creating everything, but rather a secretary taking note of all the happenings.
Today I think I really understood what he meant.
I spent a good chunk of the morning following my characters around, and I didn’t feel like I had any say in what was happening. I know this concept sounds weird, I myself never used to understand how it could be possible that your characters just take on a life of their own and pull you, the author, along with them. But that’s really what it felt like today. I’ve only felt this feeling a couple of times before. It was almost like watching a movie. It felt like I was just sitting there, observing it all happen, wondering what would come next.

Thank you so much for your comment, and for being my very first commenter! I really appreciate it.
There is no newsletter yet, but I’m currently working on putting in place the basic functions of the blog, one of them being the possibility to subscribe and get notified when a new post is published. I’m still super new to the whole “blog creation”, so it might take me a little bit to get it all right, but I’ll let you know once it’s in place.
