Day thirty-four of the writing streak
Today was a bad day. Actually, it’s been a bad week. But I think that today was just the last straw. Don’t worry, nothing major happened, but it was one of those weeks during which so many things go wrong, and absolutely nothing goes right – with the only exception being my reaching the 80.000-word count milestone. This entire week has been hard and has left me emotionally and physically drained. To a point at which I really considered breaking my writing streak today, because of how little energy I had for anything at all, including writing.
As you can tell from the title of this post, I didn’t break my writing streak. In the end, this evening I wrote a little bit, but rest assured that I am not exaggerating when I say that it was a real battle of wills just to get started. And sadly it didn’t get much better as I wrote.
At some point whilst I was writing, I reached a point where I thought that maybe I had finished writing everything that was missing for this draft, and that maybe I should call it without needing to push until my deadline of the end of the month. But considering the mental state I’ve been in today, I decided not to take that kind of decision right now and instead to wait and see how I feel about it tomorrow.
I kept my writing session short today, and I will do the same with this post. Tomorrow we will find out if I really have reached the end of draft one or not. For now I will bid you all a good night.
