Day thirty-one of the writing streak
Today’s and yesterday’s main focus for me was to work on something rather important: the overall plot structure for the novel. I know it’s something that many people generally work on first, before nearly reaching the end of their novel, but the thing is that for this story, what made me start it in the first place were the characters. Nearly since day one I had a clear image of the main character, and the remaining ones pieced together really easily. For this reason I wrote the entire manuscript so far with all the character arcs in mind, but I neglected the overall story plot quite a bit. That’s why I’m trying to work on it now. I have a vague idea for it which has been present in my mind for a long time, but I had never tried to put it into words before, and now I’m struggling.
I don’t think I need to get it all perfect this time around. I think it’s something I’ll have to work on in the next draft, but I would like to have some kind of a guideline for it in order to give future me something to work off.
I honestly think that once this is done, I’ll be ready to call it a day on this first draft.
