Day eight of the writing streak & 55.000 words

New day, new writing challenge!

As I said in yesterday’s post, my new challenge is to complete a 14-day writing streak.
And since I already completed two writing sessions today, I’m already eight days into a writing streak, which means that, if everything goes well, I only have one more week to go to reach my goal.

In addition to that new challenge, I also have an extra goal for this coming week: to reach 60.000 words in my manuscript by next weekend.
Throughout the entirety of July it had been my goal to reach the 60.000-word mark before the end of the month. Today is August 1st, and I’m currently at 55.000 words, which means I’m 5.000 words shy of my goal. That’s why I’ve decided to push back my deadline and to give myself an extra week to achieve it, before moving on to setting my next big goal.

This past week I’ve done remarkably well with my writing. I’ve been more consistent than ever before, and on several days I wrote for over an hour, and got over a thousand words per day. If I manage to keep this momentum going, reaching 60.000 words before next weekend should be perfectly doable.

It’s notewothy that for the past couple of days I’ve had a lot of trouble getting words down on the page as I kept second-guessing myself and then deleting everything almost immediately after writing it, but today I managed to get back into a small sense of flow, and I used it to push past this blockade that kept me stuck. Now I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to advance a lot more before the next blockade shows up. Although I have the feeling that if I stay consistent, blockades will get easier and easier to get past. I guess we’ll see.
